Caesar Salad Dressing Recipe

Makes 1 cup Caesar Salad dressing
3/4 Cup real mayonnaise (Hellman’s is best!)
1/4 Olive oil
1 large clove garlic finely minced
1/2 tsp. dijon mustard
4 dashes worcestershire sauce (Lee & Perrin’s)
2 dashes tabasco sauce
Tbsp. red or white wine vinegar
juice of 1/2 lemon
1-2 anchovies ( optional)
1/2 Cup Parmesan cheese
salt and cracked pepper

Serve immediately.

Make the best Caesar salad dressing you ever tested!

This recipe came from an old puzzle buddy. I still have the original email with the recipe on it. After a long day of puzzling, she had made a delicious Caesar salad with grilled lime chicken and it was the best Caesar salad I had ever tasted. She got from a friend who worked in catering, they couldn’t use raw egg yolk so this was modified to use ready made mayonnaise. She makes without the anchovies, but I love added extra bit tang and salt!

Mix all ingredients, serve over your favourite salad, Caesar or otherwise.

Betty’s Egg and Cheese Spread Recipe

velveeta cheese Egg and Cheese Spread- Delicious!!!!!
All recipes, ad free! No pop-ups either!

Betty’s Egg and Cheese Spread Recipe

1 Pkg Velveeta cheese
1/2 Cup mayo
1/4 Cup relish
1/4 finely chopped onion
2 hard boiled eggs (mashed or chopped)
Can be frozen.

Pretty sure this came right out of the Kraft kitchen.Melt velveeta cheese in double boiler or microwave, if doing in microwave then check every 30 seconds, it melts fast!
Stir in remainder of ingredients.

This was a breakfast or snack that my grandmother would magically pull put of the freezer when we came for weekend visits. They are like a warm hug, especially on Christmas morning or before we headed off to church on Sundays. Their warm gooey deliciousness spread on an English muffin and toasted under the broiler until golden perfection. My grandmother had her toaster oven stationed right on the kitchen table, popping out four at a time, and we kids (and my dad too!) practically raced each other to grab them. It was all fun and games, watching my brother and sister playfully squabble over who gets the next batch!

Try them- they are addictive!

Different Sizes of Jigsaw Puzzles: Does Size Matter?

3:39 pm By Canadian Puzzler Leave a Comment

Jigsaw puzzles come in a wide range of sizes to accommodate different preferences and skill levels. Here are some common sizes of jigsaw puzzles:

Does Size Matter?

100 to 300 piece count: These typically range from around 100 to 300 pieces in the puzzle. They are ideal for beginners, children, or anyone looking for a quick and manageable puzzle-solving experience. These will usually be large or very large size puzzle pieces. They will sometimes be called ” Easy Handling” for those with accessibility issues or prefer a simpler challenge.

500 to 750 pieces: Medium-sized puzzles usually range from 500 to 750 pieces. These puzzles offer a moderate level of challenge and are suitable for both beginners and more experienced puzzlers. The sizes of pieces are usually a little larger and will be marked on box.
This is my favourite size.

1000 to 2000: Large puzzles typically range from 1000 to 2000 pieces or more. the 100 piece size is probably the most popular. These puzzles provide a significant challenge and ar suited for experienced puzzlers who enjoy spending extended periods on a single puzzle.
The size of puzzle pieces are also on the smaller size.

Oversized puzzles: Oversized puzzles are larger than standard puzzles and often feature extra-large pieces. They are designed for easy handling and are suitable for individuals with limited dexterity or visual impairments. The are sometimes called ” EZ Grip” or ” Easy Handling” and are great also for a bit sized piece of puzzling.

These are just a few examples of the sizes of jigsaw puzzles available. Puzzle sizes can vary widely depending on the manufacturer, so it’s always a good idea to check the product specifications when purchasing a puzzle.
Just remember to have fun, embrace the challenge, and try not to lose your mind (or that elusive puzzle piece) in the process. Happy puzzling, my fellow piece-pilots!”

Puzzle Snacks! What are some great treats and snacks for puzzling?

11:35 am By Canadian Puzzler Leave a Comment

One of my favourite parts about puzzling is my puzzle snacks! If you have ever tried to eat or snack while puzzling, then you know how important it is to eat treats that aren’t sticky or have lots of residue (think peanut brittle and Cheetos!).
There are lots of fun tasty snacks that won’t get your puzzle sticky or full of potato chip dust.
When doing a jigsaw puzzles, I prefer snacks that are easy to eat with one hand and won’t leave residue on the puzzle pieces. Here are some options perfect for enjoying while you do your puzzle in peace.

Puzzle Tip:

Another note about snacking while puzzling- do NOT keep a drink on the table near you, it will be a disaster if your beverage spills on your beautiful puzzle!
I use a cupholder like this:

Here are some puzzle-friendly snacks!

Mixed nuts: A handful of mixed nuts provides protein and healthy fats to keep you satisfied while you puzzle.

Grapes or berries: Fresh fruit like grapes or berries are refreshing and easy to eat without getting your hands messy.

Trail Mix: a huge variety of these sweet and savoury mixes available and a perfect puzzle snack!

Remember to have napkins or paper towels handy to clean your hands between bites!/h3>
Cheese cubes: Cubes of cheese are a simple and satisfying snack that pairs well with crackers or on its own.

Pretzel sticks: Pretzel sticks are crunchy and salty, making them a great option for nibbling on while puzzling.

Popcorn: Air-popped popcorn is a light and low-calorie snack that won’t leave greasy residue on your fingers.

Granola or cereal bars: Grab a granola or cereal bar for a quick and convenient snack option that’s easy to eat while puzzling.

Baby carrots or cucumber slices: Fresh vegetables like baby carrots or cucumber slices are crunchy and refreshing snacks that won’t make a mess. Don’t forget the dip!

Dried fruit: Dried fruit like apricots, mango, or apple slices are sweet and chewy snacks that are perfect for grazing on while puzzling.

Chocolate pieces: Indulge your sweet tooth with a few pieces ( who are we kidding) of chocolate for a quick energy boost while you puzzle.
Yes, I eat chocolate for the BOOST. Chocolate raisins, chocolate nuts- ands remember Bridge Mixture? This was hugely popular when our parents an grandparents played bridge with the neighbours.

Yogurt-covered pretzels: Yogurt-covered pretzels are a delicious combination of sweet and salty flavors that are easy to eat with one hand.

White Dragon Puzzle- 500 piece jigsaw from Cobble Hill | Review

9:28 am By Canadian Puzzler Leave a Comment

White Dragon Jigsaw Puzzle Review

Overall puzzle rating: 7.5/10

Puzzle Company: Cobble Hill
Number of pieces: 500
Completed size: 26.625″ x 19.25″
Puzzle Artist: Ciruelo Cabral
Puzzle Pieces: 500 piece size. random cut, super high-quality

Notes: Gorgeous fantasy illustration of white dragon on a cliff by artist, Ciruelo. Includes high quality refences poster, suitable for framing.

The artwork of Ciruelo Cabral features a majestic white dragon against a backdrop of a mystical mountain landscape. White dragons symbolize transformation, death, and rebirth, often associated with moon gods or mother goddesses in various mythologies. In many cultures, dragons are revered as symbols of power, wisdom, and protection, while the color white signifies purity and spirituality. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a compelling narrative within the puzzle’s imagery, inviting contemplation and reflection as you piece together the puzzle.

The challenge level is intermediate, offering enough complexity to keep you engaged without feeling overwhelming. The variety of shapes and patterns in the puzzle pieces added an extra layer of enjoyment for me. As always, the poster is a huge plus; not having to keep track of the box while puzzling is great.

The color palette on this puzzle was not as vibrant as I normally like. If you enjoy fantastical art and dragons, this would be a great puzzle for you!

Riverside Livingroom – 750 piece puzzle format from Ravensburger | REVIEW

3:08 pm By Canadian Puzzler Leave a Comment

Riverside Livingroom Review

Puzzle Company: Ravensburger
Number of pieces: 750
Completed size: 31.5” x 23.6” inches
Puzzle Artist: Unknown
Puzzle Pieces: Over sized, easy to grip, thick, top quality
Puzzle Reference Poster: No

Overall Score: 6/10

Notes: A lovely puzzle that brings you outdoors. Imagine yourself sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs by the crackling fireside or watching the river from the cabin while chatting with friends. In the background, a mountain range is cast in sunlight. With 750 pieces, this puzzle boasts a shape that’s wider than it is tall, perfect for folks who’d rather not do the puzzle-time limbo!

Why try a 750 Piece Puzzle Size?

Sadly, the gorgeous image on the box did not reproduce well. I was surprised because Ravensburger quality is typically outstanding; they use highly pigmented inks and top-quality paper. The issue here was not with puzzle quality but with image reproduction and inks on the puzzle itself. This had so much potential, and I was a bit disappointed. However, I did like the 750-piece format and would recommend giving this size a try.

How to Organize Collection of Jigsaw Puzzles

8:49 am By Canadian Puzzler Leave a Comment

How to Organize and Store a Your Collection of Jigsaw Puzzles

Jigsaw puzzles are not just a leisurely pastime; for many, they are a beloved way to unwind and relax.
Organizing your puzzle collection makes it easier to access specific puzzles when you want to work on them. You can quickly locate a particular puzzle without having to sift through a disorganized pile of boxes.
Here are some helpful tips to keep your jigsaw puzzle collection neat, tidy, and easily accessible:

Sort puzzles by Brand, Size or Theme

Begin by sorting your puzzles either by Brand, box size-size or theme. Sorting by size helps if you have puzzles of varying dimensions, while sorting by theme (such as landscapes, animals, Christmas or Seasons) .
Themed sections can make it easier to choose which puzzle to work on next.

Use a Simple Spreadsheet to keep track of your puzzles

Keep track of your puzzles with either Google Sheets or MS excel spreadheet. List by Puzzle Brand, Name, puzzle size, brand, artist and cost. For detailed instruction visit Make a Puzzle Spreadsheet

Label Your Containers

Label each storage container with the puzzle’s theme, size, or number of pieces. This makes it easy to find the puzzle you’re looking for without having to open every container.

Store Vertically

Store your puzzle containers vertically rather than stacking them horizontally. This prevents the weight of the containers on top from crushing the puzzles at the bottom and makes it easier to access individual puzzles.

Use Shelving Units

Install shelving units in your storage space to keep your puzzle containers organized and easily accessible. Adjustable shelves allow you to customize the spacing to accommodate different-sized containers.

Store in a Cool, Dry Place

Puzzle pieces can warp or become damaged if exposed to heat or moisture. Store your puzzle collection in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.

Organize Loose Pieces

Keep track of loose puzzle pieces by storing them in separate containers or ziplock bags within each puzzle container. This prevents them from getting lost and makes it easier to start a puzzle without searching for missing pieces.

Rotate Your Puzzle Collection

To prevent boredom and keep your puzzles feeling fresh, consider rotating your collection regularly. Swap out completed puzzles for new ones or revisit old favorites to enjoy them again.

You can effectively organize and store your large collection of jigsaw puzzles, making it easy to find and enjoy your favorite puzzles whenever the mood strikes!

A neatly organized collection can enhance your enjoyment of puzzling. It creates a sense of anticipation and excitement as you browse through your options and choose which puzzle to tackle next.
